About Me

Greetings! I’m Peter Moore Fuller, otherwise known as Playfair, Glyph, Bard, and Chopin. I’m a professional cryptic crossword setter for the Economist, Guardian, Independent, and Unch Magazine. I also help beginners learn how to solve cryptics.

I live in the fine city of Norwich with my wife Lucy and our four children, and when I’m not writing crosswords I spend the rest of my time working as a science communicator, graphic designer, software trainer, and creative facilitator. I also play 12-string and blues harp in The Dead Set.

I’ve created this site as a hub for information about my puzzles and workshops. If you’d like to get in touch, just reach out.

Workshops

Beginner's guide to cryptic crosswords – a 3 hour workshop for beginners or dabblers. We go through different types of cryptic crosswords, the main clue types, and tackle some mini puzzles.

Solve along – a 1 hour workshop suitable for festivals and conferences where we introduce basic solving concepts and work as a group to solve a puzzle together.

Commission a Cryptic

I'm available to write bespoke cryptic crosswords, with prices starting from £200. If you know someone who would love a personalised cryptic – please get in touch.

Commission a Clue

I also offer a clue writing service for a single clue. This could be someone's name, your company, or a shared catchphrase between friends. £25 per clue.

As a career graphic designer, I can provide the clue beautifully typeset and in a format for you to have printed onto items like T-shirts, mugs, tote bags, etc., for a really unique gift.
